15 Sep PRIVATE NURSING HOMES
Nursing Homes constitutes the largest database of nursing centres covering the area of the whole Poland. It comprises: nursing homes, welfare centres, nursing and treatment centres as well as sanatoria. It provides information regarding, among others, the services rendered, admission conditions or fees charged by individual centres.
Nowadays private nursing homes can provide their residents mainly with constant full-time care. The owner’s responsibility is to select the best personnel: caregivers, nursing team and medical team that will carefully and properly take care of the Elderly. As private activities, apart from the administrative requirements, nursing homes meet conditions related to their residents’ everyday lives and they are able to meet even the most individual requirements of the Elderly. Most nursing homes are well prepared to admit persons at various stages of diseases. They are so called “open” centres for both persons suffering from physical and mental disorders. However, in order to become prosperous and fully legal facilities, they must meet the requirements set by the Province Governor as well as be entered into the applicable register.
The nursing centres today do their best to break down the sad stereotypes about nursing homes showing them as huge buildingswhere care leaves much to be desired, and where the patients’ health condition deteriorates quickly instead of improving. Every well-functioning institution is to enjoy the best, almost impeccable reputation. That is why the person establishing a new nursing home has a difficult job to do in order to meet the home residents’ expectations. Nowadays private nursing institutions are becoming more and more popular among the Elderly. The above may be proved by the lack of vacancies for new patients. The main reasons making one decide to move to a nursing home are mainly the rapidly deteriorating health condition, relatives’ inability to provide care as well as loneliness. In such cases an appropriate nursing home is often the only and right solution.
At present private nursing homes offer, among others:
- care by a family doctor,
- availability of specialist doctors,
- systematically organized occupational therapy,
- assistance in maintaining daily hygiene and care, including appointments at the hairdresser’s and beautician’s, if requested.
- delicious home cooking, including meals prepared in accordance with nutritionists’ recommendations,
- excellent living conditions in cosy rooms without any architectonic barriers, often with access to television, telephone and the Internet,
- access to alarm and call signal systems as well as equipment ensuring safety inside the patients’ rooms,
- monitoring of the entire facility,
- often a specific quantity of hygienic measures and essential medicines included in the monthly cost of a person’s residence,
- provision of pastoral services and fulfilment of the patients’ spiritual needs,
- transportation by car or additional shopping, if requested by a patient,
- organization of holidays such as e.g. Christmas, Easter, etc.
- going for team building trips together with other nursing homes’ residents,
- guarantee of active leisure time thanks to walks, picnics, familiarization meetings, etc.
- organization of the patients’ spare time by means of cultural and educational programs (such as e.g.: music concerts, poetry readings, manual activities, and celebrations such as birthdays, namedays, etc.).
The offer of private nursing homes is quite rich and the number of people willing to take advantage thereof keeps increasing. The age called “old age” has its sad faces. However, one may often replace it with a joyful vision oneself. All one needs is just the faith and feeling that, despite age, one is still needed, and one may spend the autumn of his/her life in good and happy conditions.
